Every parent knows the feeling: the big Christmas present gets ten minutes of attention, and then the box becomes the real toy. Soft play is different. Children climb it, slide down it, build with it and come back to it every single day, long after Christmas is over. It's active play that burns off energy on dark winter afternoons, and it looks lovely in a playroom or living room too.

How to choose the right soft play gift
- Babies (6 to 12 months): go for low, gentle pieces like the Mini Climbie or Corner Climber.
- Toddlers (1 to 3 years): the Mega Fun Slider, Discoverer Set and ball pits are the big hits.
- Preschoolers (3 years and up): castle and block sets, plus kids' furniture they can call their own.
- Short on space? The Corner Climber and square ball pits tuck neatly into a corner.
- Siblings? Choose a bigger set, the Hexagon Bench or a large ball pit so they can play together.
